5 Beaches to Visit Near Bloubergstrand, Cape Town

One of the best things about staying in Blouberg is how close you are to some of Cape Town’s most beautiful coastline. Whether you’re looking for a long beach walk, a sunset spot, somewhere to watch the kitesurfers or simply a place to spend a relaxed afternoon, there are plenty of options nearby.

Here are five beaches worth adding to your Cape Town itinerary.

1. Bloubergstrand Beach

This is the classic Blouberg experience.

The wide stretch of beach offers one of Cape Town’s most recognisable views across Table Bay towards Table Mountain and the city.

It’s perfect for beach walks, sunset photos and watching the kitesurfers when the wind is up.

If you’re staying in one of our Blouberg properties, chances are this will be your local beach.

2. Big Bay

A little further up the coast, Big Bay has a relaxed beach atmosphere with restaurants and cafés close by.

It’s another popular spot for surfing and kitesurfing, but it’s just as good for grabbing something to eat and enjoying the view across the bay.

It’s an easy place to spend a few hours without having to travel far from Blouberg.

3. Small Bay

Just around the corner from Big Bay, Small Bay has a more intimate feel.

It’s a lovely option for a quieter beach visit and is especially beautiful around sunset.

You’ll still get the incredible Table Mountain backdrop, but the smaller beach gives it a slightly different atmosphere from the long open stretches of Blouberg.

4. Sunset Beach

As the name suggests, this is a particularly good place to end the day.

Sunset Beach sits between Blouberg and Milnerton and offers another beautiful perspective across Table Bay.

Bring something warm, head down before sunset and enjoy one of Cape Town’s simplest experiences: watching the sun disappear over the Atlantic.

5. Melkbosstrand

If you feel like heading a little further up the West Coast, Melkbosstrand is well worth the short drive.

The beach stretches along a quieter seaside neighbourhood and has a much more laid-back coastal-town feel.

Grab breakfast or lunch nearby, walk along the beach and enjoy a slower afternoon away from the busier parts of Cape Town.
